Texas Removing Christmas from Curriculum

Recommended Posts

Elf Hermey

A proposal for a new social studies curriculum for Texas public schools removes the word “Christmas” in a sixth-grade lesson. Jonathan Saenz is a lobbyist for the conservative Free Market Foundation, calls it “outrageous that the war on Christmas continues in our state and in our nation.” He contends removing “Christmas” from the curriculum is [...]

IN TEXAS?!?!?

You would think this would be the last place for this - BUT the STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION is a very strange group. They have changed so many things in the last few years - it is really amazing.

Exactly, Santa PhilG. I just found out that the HOA where I live (and have been their Santa for the last 3 years since I lived here) has changed the name of their Christmas Party to "Winder Holiday Party". Because of this, quite frankly, I don't know if I'm going doing it again.

Please excuse me if someone thinks I'm picking on another religion, but what would happen if U.S. citizens who are Christians (be they Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Episcopal, or whatever) moved to a country and started insisting that they change the name of their religious holidays to accommodate the beliefs of those who have immigrated to their country? I don't think they would lie down like a submissive animal and let their traditions be misconstrued.

Forgive my straightforwardness, but someone needs to "grow a set" and tell them to celebrate however they choose, much less change the way we educate our own children.

There is definatly a movement in our country to attack and remove our christian ways. We must all stamd up and fight against this. Yell to the mountain tops, that we will not put up with this! If we sit by and do nothing, one day we'll say do you remember when...

How can they do away with Christmas, when it's been celebrated in this country since the time of the Pilgrims?

There are forces at work trying to do just that.

Groups like the ACLU (which is in my opinion, the most Anti-American group in America, next to most State Depts. of Education), have manipulated this country, into fast becoming a non-Judeo-Christain nation. This nation was Founded on the Judeo/Christian beliefs - it was NOT founded on the beliefs of Hindus, Muslims, Tao/Dao, Antheists, or other major known religions of that time.

This country, as Santa Felix so poignantly put it, needs to grow a set!!

Don't just sit back and complain - confront (within the law) these groups, places, and people. Write letters, circulate them for signatures and send them in!! If the nation would get off its butt instead of just complaining to ourselves about it, groups like the ACLU, would not have the power, and a lot of these stupid ideas wouldn't get started in the first place, let alone acted upon.

We need to start getting our nations kids to not be such wimps, when they can't play tag, flag football, dodge-ball, at school for recess because "someone might get hurt". I used to (and still do) carry a small pocketknife with me to school. It was not considered a threat to anyone, it was not considered a weapon - it was and is a tool! We had a gun and rifle club at my high school (in California no less!). We have got kids so scared that something might happen to them - that they do nothing.

This goes part and parcel, to Christmas now being nullified in today's society. We have become such a Nanny-State, that people think that the gov't should control or have a say in every aspect of their lives, and they don't question it. What should be "privileges" are now considered "rights", and what used to be considered basic to this country, is now something that might "offend" someone (read Christmas/Christian in that). When last I checked, the Constitution didn't guarantee that you wouldn't be offended by someone or something. If you don't like the fact that it is December, and most people in this country want to show some Christian symbols, then ignore it and just go about your business. You aren't the majority (yet).

I will now get down from my soap box.

Those "forces" have been at work for a long time. For too many years the church has been silent thinking that if we stayed out of politics they would stay out of our business. For years , on the surface, it looked as though that was the case but all the while things (laws, people, ideas) were being put in place so that now it is very difficult to keep our foothold even though we are a majority. If we speek up we are now radicals and hate mongers. Radical or not, and no matter what they say this country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and there is proof in every part of government down to even being carved into government buildings. it is truely sad that small minorities have such control of the greater majority. I shall end my ranting with this, things are not going to get easier but the silent majority can not stay silent anymore.

There are good American people who donate money to the ACLU thinking that they are protecting civil rights. Now the ACLU has unlimited resources to take a case all the way to the Supreme Court just to take down a Nativity that has been displayed for decades.

All this time we were watching out for Communists and Socialists trying to take over this country and the ACLU walked right in through the back door.

What's next - removing Santa from a public parade?

That realy disgusts me, my health has gone down hill lately(inhaling fertiliser, pesticides and powdered lime for decades wears out the hartiest of men), there are only four members of my immediate family left and i have no doubt that in the end my sister will be the last one standing.

But i do not feel bad about the prospect of dying before im 55 because these liberals have made this into a world i do not want to live in.

There is no other recourse, they want to take over and can only do it if we do nothing, the 21st century sadly will be the one in which humanity had to decide if it was worth really being free and not just boasting about it.

Churches have to be careful getting involved in politics as the IRS can take away their tax exempt status.

    • If You Have the Post Christmas Blues You’re Doing Christmas Wrong
The post-Christmas blues are a very real thing. Once the date of December 25th has passed the specter of December 26th is an ominous marker to many. It sits there on the calendar like the Ghost of Christmas Yet-to-Come. Silent and foreboding, the very image of the hooded Angel of Death it seems to be. And why not?

Just about anywhere you look Americans are tossing trees to the curb, ripping down lights from rooftops and radio stations are flipping back to everyday music. What took months to build gets deconstructed in a matter of a couple of days.

    • Auld Lang Syne
Every New Year’s Eve at the stroke of midnight, millions around the world traditionally gather together to sing the same song, “Auld Lang Syne”. As revilers mumble though the song’s versus, it often brings many of them to tears – regardless of the fact that most don’t know or even understand the lyrics. Confusion over the song’s lyrics is almost as much of a tradition as the song itself. Of course that rarely stops anyone from joining in.

    • Merry Christmas, My Friend
Every year around this time, some variation of this poem is circulated online. The poem is generally credited to “a soldier stationed in Okinawa” or more recently since September 11, 2001, “a Marine stationed in Afghanistan”.

However, the poem’s true author is Lance Corporal James M. Schmidt.

Originally entitled, “Merry Christmas, My Friend”, Corporal Schmidt wrote the poem in 1986 while serving as Battalion Counter Sniper at the Marine Barracks 8th & I, in Washington, D.C.

That day the poem was placed in the Marine Corps Gazette and distributed worldwide. Schmidt’s poem was later published in Leatherneck (Magazine of the Marines) in December 1991.

Backlash Building Against The Man Who Invented Christmas

      ChristmasWeekly.com
      September 7, 2017

      EXCERPT:

There is a new Christmas movie headed to theaters this Christmas about Charles Dickens about his creation of A Christmas Carol and Christmas purists hate it. Already.

The film has a stellar cast that features the dreamy-eyed Dan Stevens as Dickens and the legendary Christopher Plummer as Scrooge. Here is the trailer:

“This is a very presumptuous film,” said Christmas fan and would-be film critic, Arnold Yates, via MSN. “Charles Dickens was great but he certainly didn’t invent Christmas. Bah Humbug!”

That sentiment is growing online as the preview makes the rounds.

    • Seeking recognition
Seeking recognition is a downward path for a legend who performs his tasks in the veil of night.

Recently, a fellow portrayer of Santa posted an image on Facebook that they constructed to look like a magazine cover with him on it and several story snips like many publications have on their covers.  You may have seen it if they are your friend on Facebook.  It looks okay.  The composition is good, but the rendering when uploading it to Facebook became distorted it and it is quite pixelated when you look at it from a development standpoint.

    • Infringement? Make up your own mind.
In the last couple of days, on several different social media and bidding sites, an item has been offered for sale that in my opinion is cause for suspicion.  I would like to bring that product to your attention.

There is some disagreement over whether or not it is an infringement or not.  I believe it is close enough to be considered as an infringement, but that is not the only the reason behind my post.

Christmas is going to be a little different this year for families whose traditions include visiting Santa at Bass Pro Shops. Paul Davis, who spent the last nine years as the Bass Pro Santa in Ashland, will not be there anymore.
