Frustration as Fauci says it's 'too soon to tell' if families can gather for Christmas and says immigrants are 'absolutely not' responsible for COVID spread

Dr. Anthony Fauci said it was 'too soon' to say whether Americans can gather for Christmas in an interview Sunday on Face the Nation 
CBS News' Margaret Brennan asked Fauci about the December holiday after he voiced cautious optimism about the country's COVID-19 numbers going down

Fauci warned that the country needed to remain vigilant 
'You know, Margaret, it's just too soon to tell,' Fauci said about Christmas 
He added, 'We've just got to keep concentrating on continuing to get those numbers down and not try to jump ahead by weeks or months' 
On CNN's State of the Union, Fauci knocked down a belief on the right that immigrants share a high degree of responsibility for the spread of COVID-19 
'Certainly immigrants can get infected, but they're not the driving force of this, let's face reality here,' Fauci said  
Dr. Anthony Fauci said it was 'too soon' to say whether Americans can gather for Christmas in an interview Sunday on Face the Nation. 

CBS News' Margaret Brennan asked Fauci about the December holiday after he voiced cautious optimism about the country's COVID-19 numbers going down - however warned that the country needed to remain viligant. 

'You know, Margaret, it's just too soon to tell,' President Joe Biden's chief medical expert said about Christmas. 'We've just got to keep concentrating on continuing to get those numbers down and not try to jump ahead by weeks or months and say what we're going to do at a particular time.' 

'When you have 700,000 Americans dead and millions and million and millions of Americans getting infected, you don't want to look outside to the problem. The problem is within our own country,' Fauci said. 'Certainly immigrants can get infected, but they're not the driving force of this, let's face reality here.' 

CNN's Dana Bash had asked Fauci about a Kaiser Family Foundation poll that found 55 per cent of Republicans and 40 per cent of unvaccinated respondents blamed immigrants and tourists for bringing COVID-19 into the country and for the country's high case rates.  

Republicans also ranked immigrants as the biggest factor impacting COVID-19 transmission. 

Fauci was also asked about Title 42, which allows the U.S. government to quickly deport border crossers due to the ongoing pandemic. 

'I am not as familiar with the intricacies of that to make any comment about that rule,' Fauci first said before adding, 'my feeling has always been that focusing on immigrants, expelling them or what have you, is not the solution to an outbreak.' 

Bash also asked Fauci if he believed former President Donald Trump should get a COVID-19 booster shot on-camera. 
Fauci didn't immediately say yes.  

'Well, first of all, I would think everybody should get their boosters anyway, whether the president does it or not,' Fauci answered. 'I am sure that there are people who religiously follow what former President Trump says and does, that that - they may look at that and say, OK, I will get vaccinated.' 

Fauci also offered a 'we will see' and 'I don't know.' 

'I just think we need to appeal to the rationale of why it's important, whether Trump gets vaccinated or not,' he continued.

'There are very, very good reasons, beyond someone specifically getting vaccinated, for people to get vaccinated with a booster shot,' Fauci said. 'The protection is waning, as we know. And boosters are going to be something that will be very helpful to contain the outbreak and to protect people.'  'That's the reason why they should get boosted,' Fauci added.

Just as a FYI...

I worked the haunt this weekend and we were sold out both nights. 2500 tickets sold each night. I just don't see how they can roll it back for Christmas.

I would post some videos that Jimmy Dore did about Fauci on YouTube but they are a bit too abrasive for ClausNet. Though they are enlightening.

Hopefully the Molnupiravir antiviral drug will alleviate any restrictions Federal, State, or local governments would like to impose on gatherings in December. If the Merck oral drug is approved it’ll make being vaxxed or unvaxxed a non-issue since you’ll only need treatment if you are infected.

I work for the office of mental health in New York. The Governor just decreed that all "forward facing", meaning direct contact with patients or customers are mandated to get vaccinated or risk losing their jobs without an ability to access unemployment. This has already gone into effect for private hospitals in New York. Locally, we had a couple of hundred Nurses and healthcare workers walk out of several hospitals in protest. This obviously this led to quite the log jam in the ERs and other areas. 

No doubt, this position is very controversial and leads to heated discussions on both sides. 

I personally, do not support mandating people to get vaccinated, especially since so many variables are left unanswered. For instance, it is widely supported that natural immunity, gained from having Covid, is far better than what is a acquired from receiving the shot. Yet, at least here, people who have a natural immunity are still going to be mandated to get the shot.

It seems to be one big mess and it appears that it will only get worse as people are driven more and more by fear. It doesn't help that the media continues to foster this position for ratings. I will only mention that the pharmaceutical companies are making a ton of money as Government on all levels and pharmacies are buying the drug. They also bill the insurance companies for the injection service.

Saying all of this, it has been proven that the shot will lessen your symptoms if/when you contract Covid. It wont prevent you from catching it and it wont prevent you from spreading it. It is widely accepted, even by the World Health Organization, that this is something that we will have to live with from now on just as we do with the flu. 

As of today, the rate of new cases and hospitalizations and deaths from the Delta variant of Covid, continue to decline.

Yesterday while I was seeing a new patient, she tells me her sister is in the hospital with COVID-19. Her sister had improved for for a few days but took a turn for the worst and was placed on a vent the prior day. Her sister and brother-in-law who was discharged 4 days ago had refused the vaccine. During our time together she gets a call from her mother, the doctors are calling the family in to discuss removing her from the vent because of organ failure. SAD!

We have similar mandates coming out here in the UK too, initially in the care sector., As you say, quite a lot of controversy about it and a number of care workers have left their jobs as a result, which has the knock on effect in terns of service provision. 

Sadly its a mad world at the moment, indeed I thought it was a mad world pre covid!

Sad news Joe.

My daughter tested positive yesterday, and she has been super careful in terms of protecting herself.  My wife was over there for the week, so she has had to be tested, awaiting the results on her now before she can return home.

I hope its negative as Im starving here
