Around this time of year people start to wonder when should we put Christmas decorations up? And when should we start buying presents?

But another British Christmas tradition involves people asking when the John Lewis Christmas advert will be released.

The advert signals the start of the festive season and many have to get the tissues out when it comes around.

Whilst there is still a little while until the festive season is fully underway that doesn't stop people from wondering what the advert will entail and when it will be released.

Since 2014, when John Lewis released their "Monty the Penguin" advert, the ad has been shown on screens in November.

These have usually been in early to mid-November with last year's "Give A Little Love" advert being released on November 13.

If this trend continues the advert should be gracing our screens next month.

Usually, it will first appear online at around 8am before making its official debut on the big screen.

However, what the advert will be about remains a mystery, but some rumours are floating around about who will singing the soundtrack.

Adele is the favourite to be the star on this year's soundtrack, followed by Anne Marie, Arlo Parks, Freya Riding, and Mabel, reports Wales Online.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: "Having teased her new song, Adele is hot favourite to be John Lewis's choice to sing in their iconic Christmas advert.

"However, the British songstress has stiff competition from the likes of Anne Marie at 5/1, Arlo Parks at 7/1 and Freya Riding at 12/1. Established names such as Ed Sheeran and Coldplay are 14/1 and 33/1 respectively, while Oasis are an outside shout at 100/1."

In 2018 when John Lewis released "The Boy & The Piano", Elton John appeared in the advert.

His famous single "Your Song" played while the life of a young boy in the 1950s was followed and ended with him being gifted a piano for Christmas.
