My wife found this 'blast from the past' after she retired and had time to go through family archives. I must have been 13 or so, and very stubborn. Our math teacher shared a story about a new world record for crawling on hands and knees that had recently been set. He said if we went down to the soccer field and calculated how many laps it would take to break the record, we would get an "A" for extra credit. If we actually went and broke the record, we would get an "A" for the year. Seemed easier than studying, so I broke the record and also set a new record for speed.
