THANK YOU @Black River Santa !!!

According to a 2013 article by Lindsay Knake, on Michigan’s, mlive.com, The Duke called Wally Bronner at what is now Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, in Frankenmuth, Michigan, on December 15, 1976, and ordered “…the biggest suit you got.” Wayne said he needed the suit for a film but his final film was "The Shootist," which was released that year and definitely didn’t have Santa in it. Another theory is he bought the Santa suit to wear on "The Tonight Show," starring Johnny Carson, but there is no record of him appearing on the show in 1976. According to the article, even Wayne’s family has no idea why he ordered the suit and it is still a mystery to this day.
