Why it's a bad idea to leave Christmas lights up for too long

Oh no - pretty sure I have the same condition as @Schwindy when it comes to ladders - letting the pros do all the install and wiring . . . -

Doug, I can't wait to see your house decked out like this - will you be installing them yourself? -

YES, & it ONLY TOOK 1 FALL from the roof back into the house (Thankfully) to realize I CAN'T PRETEND TO BE 25 when I'm 55 & balancing skills have evaded me! So IT'S ALWAYS GOING TO BE GROUND & LAND decorating ONLY!!! Ohhh yea, one more thing, YOU MEAN WERE SUPPOSED TO TAKE EM DOWN ONCE YOU GET EM UP?! Didn't know that, thanks! -

I always hated how during the day you just had tons of wire hanging around your home. A few years ago, I started adding garlands and other decorations to hide them and it looks a lot better. I now aim at making the house look just as good both day and night. -

Ya know being on disability myself, I NEVER LIED about what I can and can't do. When going B/4 the judge, against advice & concerns. He told me "DON'T TELL THE JUDGE THAT!" I told the judge anyway, "Sir, I cut my own grass, and I can run the snow blower, typically I pay the kids around the neighborhood to shovel what the blower can't get too." & it takes days to get all the flowers planted anymore as compared to the 4 hours for planting and 2 hours for cutting the grass. The judge asked WHY I TOLD HIM I CUT MY OWN GRASS? Because when whoever shows you a photo of me cutting the lawn, you'll be able to say to them, "Yep, he told me he is able to do that" NOW what did he do AFTER cutting the grass?! Typically, I sit on the porch or go back into the A/C & recover for about 45 - 60 minutes & the shower chair gets used that night for sure! BUT with my shoulders being as bad as they are, NOT TOO SURE I CAN THROW A TRASH BAG LET A LONE A TREE!!! BUT HEY, WHEN IS THE NEXT EVENT, I'll get it a shot!!! LOL! LOL! LOL! JUST KIDDIN NOT gonna happen!!!!!!

She should have to repay the disability payments she received.
-
Or would that be an old time grammar thing?
-
I did notice Goodman. I guess since it’s a pet name it is just one word rather than two?

Some people never learn.

Woman loses £650,000 injury claim after being pictured winning Christmas tree-throwing contestt SOURCE - The Telegraph Date - 25-Feb 2024 A woman who tried to claim €760,383 (£649,967) for injuries she suffered in a car crash lost her case after she was pictured winning a Christmas tree-throwing contest. Kamila Grabska, 36, said she was left with a ‘‘disabling’’ condition following an accident in February 2017 when the vehicle she was in was hit from behind. She had sued RSA Insurance on the basis that she could not work for more than five years, play with her children or carry out basic chores because of constant back and neck pain. But the Irish High Court, sitting in Limerick, was shown a photo in a national newspaper of her hurling a spruce tree on Jan 8 2018, during her hearing. Mrs Grabska argued that while she looked happy in the pictures from the charity event, she was still suffering from her injuries and endured pain to this day. But Judge Carmel Stewart threw out the case and remarked that the “very graphic picture” of her tossing the tree had helped her make the decision. The Irish Independent reported the judge as saying: “It is a very large, natural Christmas tree and it is being thrown by her in a very agile movement. I’m afraid I cannot but conclude the claims were entirely exaggerated. On that basis, I propose to dismiss the claim.” Kamila Grabska told doctors her injuries were so severe after the accident that she could not lift a heavy bag Mrs Grabska, a mother of two from Ennis, Co Clare, told doctors her injuries were so severe after the accident that she could not lift a heavy bag without feeling shooting pain. She said there were times when her husband had to bring medication to her in bed because of her pain. She quit her job following the crash and took disability payments, writing in court documents that her past and future loss of earnings amounted to £427,340. But the court heard that just a few days before she had informed doctors of her condition, she had finished top in the charity Christmas tree-throwing event. During the hearing, some footage was also submitted in evidence from November last year that showed Ms Grabska training her large dog in a park for more than an hour. She denied the suggestion that she had faked her injuries, telling the court she was simply “trying to live a normal life”, the Irish Independent reported. Her case was dismissed after the judge ruled her activities following the crash were “completely at odds” with the medical evidence she had given of her injuries.

it appears "Goody" is her petname/nickname in the story - note she refers to Santa as "Goodman"
-
Why was she called Goody?
-
This is a great poem that I will copy and give to my wife. I think she will agree with the sentiment.
-
I was doing some online history checking and came across references to the first mentions of Mrs. Claus - turns out Mrs. Claus was popularized in an 1889 poem called Goody Santa Claus on a Sleigh Ride - was doing some looking online and what do I find ????? It was posted on ClausNet back in 2015 !! Posting this bit of history to bring it back into coversation . . .

I must have missed this, but how crazy. SO sad for the Santa and his family, but the trauma for the children and families watching. The world is mad

10 Essentials to Being a Better Santa
Santa Lou posted an article in Santa's Wisdom,
Here are some DOs and DON'Ts on being Santa
Treat every child with respect.
Never make fun of a child.
Look into the child’s eyes when you speak to them.
Speak softly. Children are sharing confidences with you.
Acknowledge a child’s requests even if you don’t understand them.
Never promise a toy request to avoid a child’s disappointment.
Never promise a pet. Santas a toymaker and only animals produce pets.
If the child can’t remember their wish list, assure them you know what they want.
Never leave a child wondering if Santa heard their Christmas wishes.
Every child worries about being on Santas “Naughty or Nice List”. Tell each child “You’re on the “Nice List.” It will bring happiness to everyone!
