Thank you for posting this, Mike.  This was one of the first adapted presentations that Santa's Drill Team performed starting on Memorial Day weekend in Canton, NC, in 2010 and still do to this day, especially for our Honor Flight Orientations in front of WWII Veterans.  I have written a children's version of Red Skelton's meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance for our "Pride, Honor and Courage" program which we  present to elementary school age children.  We try our best to explain that the "Pledge of Allegiance" is not a prayer but a way of saying "Thank You" to their Heroes, those who serve, protect and teach them.
