Here's a look at Charles W. Howard on "What's My Line" - I find it quite telling that 1 panelist, Dorothy Kilgallen immediately guessed him as a Santa, and another spoke of the "twinkle" in his eye.

That's fun! If he would have answered "no" at 4:52, then he might have been on a little longer. I guess perhaps it is a costume. 🤔

Amazing the panelist got so close as Mr. Howard was shaking hands, "Is he a department store Santa?" That set the her line of questioning from the start.  Great to see this!!

I wondered that too. She had an inkling of what he did from the start. Perhaps she had heard the name, even back then. 

 

I thought it interesting that he referred to what he wears as a costume and not a suit.
